The Network of Autism Training and Technical Assistance (NATTAP) in partnership with the Autism Society of America will be holding its second annual conference in Columbus, Ohio. The objectives of the conference according to the NATTAP website are, “to review current systems models for addressing the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), promote use of best practice in research and intervention and provide methods for capacity building – all of which contribute to the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for individuals ages 3-21.”
Conference Attendees
NATTAP anticipates that between 1,500 and 2,000 people will attend the 2008 conference. In addition to parents of individuals with autism, the conference will also host special educators, school administrators, autism center directors and staff, service providers, assistive technology professionals, early intervention staff members and a variety of other autism professionals.
Scheduled Presentations
Autism conferences are known for offering a thorough range of topics to its attendees. The NATTAP plans on hosting presentations and discussions on the following topics: early intervention, employment, national initiatives, social skills, sensory issues and making the transition to adulthood.
Exhibition Hall
In addition to the autism-related presentations, the conference will also host a large exhibition. The following companies have confirmed their participation in the NATTAP Exhibition: Autism Asperger Publishing Company, Autism Speaks, the Interactive Autism Network, Jessica Kingsley Publishers and Super Duper Publications.
NATTAP Conference Registration Information
Full-conference registration fees start at $100 for parents/family members to $315 for onsite registration. There are also five different pre-conference workshops being held on November 18. An additional fee of $100 will be assessed for anyone interesting in attending a pre-conference session. If you attend a pre-conference workshop, you are not required to attend the NATTAP Conference.
